Job Description
TITLE: American Sign Language Teacher -Tullahoma Virtual Academy Adjunct Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Must hold American Sign Language 6-12 (code 172) or American Sign Language
Prek-12 (code 171) endorsement or be willing/able to acquire the endorsement.
JOB GOAL: To effectively deliver an engaging and accessible asynchronous virtual
American Sign Language course to high school students, developing their
communication skills and proficiency in ASL through innovative digital teaching
strategies and personalized support, while meeting state curriculum standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS or DUTIES:
● Design and deliver engaging asynchronous lessons that align with Tennessee
state curriculum standards for American Sign Language, ensuring students
develop strong communication skills and ASL proficiency.
● Create, organize, and maintain digital instructional materials and activities that
support varied learning styles and promote student understanding in a virtual
environment.
● Monitor and assess student progress through quizzes, assignments, and
performance tasks, providing timely, constructive feedback to guide skill
development.
● Communicate regularly with students and guardians through virtual platforms to
address questions, provide support, and encourage student engagement and
success.
● Utilize technology tools effectively to facilitate learning, track attendance and
participation, and manage virtual classroom logistics.
● Maintain accurate and confidential records of student performance, attendance,
and communications in compliance with school and district policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This job may require lifting objects that exceed 20 pounds, with frequent lifting and/or
carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal
FLSA: Non-Exempt/Exempt
TERM: Adjunct full year commitment ASL I in the fall and ASL 2 in the spring.
SALARY: Stipend based on enrollment.
