Title: Alcoa Elementary School General Music Teacher
Reports to: Alcoa Elementary School Principal
Summary: Instruct students in grades K - 2
Terms: 10 month contract
Qualifications: Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree, active Tennessee teaching license, and an
endorsement that includes grades K-2 general music instruction
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver high-quality music instruction aligned to state standards, using clear learning
objectives and a variety of instructional strategies that meet diverse student needs, interests, and
abilities.
2. Establish clear and explicit objectives for all units, lessons, culminating tasks, and daily
assignments; clearly communicate those objectives to students.
3. Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate accommodations and modifications to ensure
growth and success for all learners.
4. Possess confidence in integrating technology into instruction and as a means of effective
communication with all stakeholders.
5. Work cooperatively with children and adults and will collaborate with other staff members to the
benefit of the child.
6. Create a positive, structured learning environment through effective classroom management,
supervision, and the use of restorative practices to support student behavior and well-being.
7. Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training
workshops.
8. Appropriately represent the system and the profession to parents and the community, acting as a
professional at all times.
9. Participate in school and system sponsored activities (i.e., parent nights, fundraisers, field trips,
extra-curricular, additional duties, etc.)
10. Remain abreast of current trends in the profession and maintain a flexible attitude and growth
mindset toward the implementation of new ideas in the classroom.
11. Collaboratively plan curriculum and prepare lessons and other materials, considering factors such
as individual needs, abilities, learning levels and physical limitations of students, while maintaining
a growth mindset with students.
12. Maintain accurate records, complete required reports in a timely manner, and comply with all
local, state, and federal policies and procedures.
13. Collaborate with classroom teachers and the school team to provide intervention and/or academic
support in the regular classroom and small group settings such as schoolwide club time.
Additional Responsibilities:
● Potentially coordinate and lead an after-school choir program, including rehearsals and
performances, to extend student opportunities in vocal music.
