Job Description

Physical Education Teacher

About the Role

The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and personal responsibility.

This teacher plays a critical role in helping students develop healthy habits, build confidence, and understand the value of discipline, effort, and perseverance—while helping establish strong systems and culture within a founding campus environment.

This role reports to the Head of School and works closely with the instructional team to support student growth and overall well-being.


Key Responsibilities

Instructional Excellence

  • Deliver structured, engaging physical education aligned to state standards and TAO expectations
  • Teach fundamental movement skills, fitness concepts, and game strategies
  • Design lessons that promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal goal-setting
  • Ensure all students are actively engaged and appropriately challenged
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and well-managed physical environment

Student Development

  • Promote lifelong health and fitness habits
  • Build student confidence through skill development and encouragement
  • Teach responsibility, perseverance, and accountability through physical activity
  • Support students in setting and achieving personal fitness goals

Classroom Culture

  • Establish a structured, positive, and inclusive environment
  • Build strong relationships with students rooted in trust and respect
  • Reinforce clear expectations for behavior, teamwork, and sportsmanship
  • Ensure all students feel included, safe, and valued

Data & Reflection

  • Monitor student progress in fitness and skill development
  • Use observation and simple assessments to guide instruction
  • Reflect on practice and adjust to meet student needs

Collaboration & Growth

  • Participate in professional development and team collaboration
  • Work with classroom teachers and leaders to support the whole child
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented school culture
  • Commit to continuous growth as an educator
