Job Description

SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Special Services and Site Leader(s), the Speech/Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Speech/Language Pathologist must work closely with the staff and administration of the school district.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students
Provide therapy, follow-up, and/or consultation based on student IEPs
Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings and diagnostic evaluations to determine the need for clinical services
Provides research-based, specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP
Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional IEP reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques
Schedule special education meetings and work cooperatively with child study team members and others in developing instructional goals and strategies
Coordinates the delivery of special education services in each student's IEP
Serves as the primary contact for the parent, general education teachers, and other service providers regarding speech services
Complies with School Board policies and all state/federal rules and regulations
Completes all district and state reporting requirements
Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature, apparent or as assigned
Participate as a team member in the comprehensive evaluation, review, and reevaluation process
Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports
Order and maintain an adequate inventory of materials and supplies
Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education

Standards and Quality Assurance

Be capable of physically assisting students with special needs as required (positioning, lifting, transferring, restraining, etc.)
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others
Behave and speak in a professional manner at all times
Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance
Attend staff and team meetings
Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety
Have the willingness to assume any responsibilities appropriate for the position
Support the mission statement of the district

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Master's degree from an accredited college/university
Current Oklahoma State Teaching Certificate
Current Oklahoma Speech Pathologist License

Salary and Benefits

Salary based on OKCPS salary schedule plus 5% based on 190 day contract
Insurance- health, dental, and vision paid for contract employee
401K- 7% based on total compensation starting after 6 months of employment
10 days PTO
