What You’ll Do


The Secondary Teacher delivers rigorous, engaging instruction aligned to state standards and the academic vision of John Rex Charter Schools. Teachers create structured and joyful classroom environments that challenge students intellectually and support their growth socially and emotionally.


Core Responsibilities


Instruction & Planning

  • Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction in assigned content area(s).
  • Integrate project-based and cooperative learning strategies.
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners.
  • Prepare students for state assessments and postsecondary pathways.


Classroom Culture & Management

  • Establish structured and positive classroom systems.
  • Teach and reinforce school-wide expectations.
  • Support adolescent social-emotional development.
  • Learn and implement Great Expectations.
  • Learn and implement Cooperative Learning.


Assessment & Data

  • Use MAPS, OSTP, and classroom assessments to monitor student progress.
  • Participate in PLCs and data meetings.
  • Provide timely feedback to students.


Collaboration & Community Engagement

  • Collaborate with colleagues across content areas.
  • Support extracurricular activities and school initiatives.
  • Engage families and community partners when appropriate.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Valid Oklahoma teaching certification required.
  • Demonstrated success in classroom instruction.
  • Strong understanding of standards-based instruction and assessment.

Contract and Work Environment

  • 10-month instructional position aligned to the academic calendar.
  • Reports directly to the Campus Principal.
  • Executes teacher initiatives as directed by the Chief Academic Officer.
