What You’ll Do


The Special Education Teacher provides specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities, ensuring they receive individualized services aligned to their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or 504 Plans while maintaining access to rigorous, grade-level learning.

This role works collaboratively with classroom teachers, specialists, and school leadership to support student growth, strengthen intervention systems, and ensure compliance with all special education regulations.


Core Responsibilities


Instruction & Intervention

  • Provide specialized instruction and targeted interventions aligned with student IEP goals.
  • Support students in accessing grade-level curriculum through differentiated strategies.
  • Deliver small-group and individualized instruction as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive learning environments.


IEP and 504 Plan Development & Implementation

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans.
  • Track student progress toward IEP and 504 Plan goals and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Facilitate or participate in IEP and 504 Plan meetings with families and school staff.
  • Ensure students receive services outlined in their IEPs and 504 Plans.


Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate documentation and records related to special education services.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations.
  • Support reporting, audits, and monitoring processes as required.


Student Progress Monitoring

  • Use academic and behavioral data to monitor student progress.
  • Collaborate with MTSS teams and specialists to align supports and interventions.
  • Provide timely updates to families and school leadership regarding student progress.


Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with general education teachers to support differentiation and inclusion.
  • Collaborate with school leaders, specialists, and support staff to ensure coordinated services.
  • Maintain open communication with families regarding student learning and development.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Valid Oklahoma teaching certification in Special Education required.

  • Strong understanding of IEP and 504 Plan development, progress monitoring, and intervention strategies.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers.

Contract and Work Environment


  • 10-month instructional position aligned to the academic calendar.
  • Reports directly to the Director of Special Education and additional oversight from the Campus Principal.
  • Executes Special Education initiatives as directed by the Chief Academic Officer.
