Job Description
OPEN POSITION: ARMY INSTRUCTOR (AI)
STARTING COMPENSATION: Commensurate to experience and JROTC Guidelines
Primary Function:
The Army Instructor (AI) is a vital member of the JROTC unit, reporting to the Senior Army Instructor (SAI). In this role, the AI contributes to the instructional activities, assists in the development and delivery of the JROTC curriculum, and provides guidance and mentorship to students. The AI will work collaboratively with the SAI and school administration to support the overall integrity and success of the JROTC program.
Qualifications:
Retired Non-Commissioned Officer
Associate's Degree
Certified U.S. Army Cadet Command to teach JROTC
JROTC Teaching Certification by the State of Missouri
Must meet U.S. Army retention medical fitness standards of Chapter 3, AR 50-501 (minimum of "1" in "S" factor of physical profile). In summary, meet good, sound physical and mental health standards.
Experience in a related position, preferred
Effective oral and written communication skills.

Essential Job Duties:
JROTC Unit Support: Assist the SAI in managing and conducting the JROTC unit according to Cadet Command guidance and school rules, regulations, and policies.
Policy Awareness: Remain informed of policy and regulation changes related to the JROTC program as advised by the SAI.
Relationship Support: Assist the SAI in maintaining good relations with school authorities, faculty, and the student body, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
Community Engagement Support: Support the SAI in community engagement efforts in local middle and elementary schools, among school and community officials, civic groups, parent-teacher groups, and other stakeholders.
Student Enrollment and Curriculum Assistance: Assist the SAI and school officials in enrolling students in JROTC and support the execution of the curriculum and integrated extracurricular activities.
Training Schedule Assistance: Assist the SAI in preparing yearly master training schedules to ensure all required training is organized effectively.
Parent Communication Support: Under the guidance of the SAI, maintain contact with parents of cadets experiencing academic or behavioral problems, ensuring open communication and collaboration for student success.
JROTC Unit Organization Support: Assist the SAI in ensuring JROTC unit areas are neat and orderly, including current chain of command photos, cadet creed, core abilities, and mission statement, while assisting in ensuring all sensitive items are secured and inventoried regularly.
Equipment Accountability Assistance: Assist the SAI in maintaining accountability of all equipment, including items requiring formal and informal accountability, as well as durable items costing $5,000 or less (e.g., automation, computers, audiovisual equipment).
Instructional Support: Share teaching responsibilities with other instructors based on expertise and preference in subject areas, as directed by the SAI, and assist the SAI in teaching the JROTC curriculum.
Regulatory Compliance Support: Assist the SAI in maintaining necessary documents and information to adhere to regulatory requirements and school guidance, ensuring compliance with both internal and Cadet Command standards.
Adherence to Policies: Adhere to the policies and procedures of the school district, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.
Attendance: Maintain regular attendance in accordance with district requirements, setting a positive example for cadets and staff.
Confidentiality and Integrity: Maintain confidentiality and uphold unquestionable integrity in all professional interactions and tasks, ensuring trustworthiness and professionalism in all responsibilities.
