OPEN POSITION:            2026 Summer Journey ESY Special Education Support Teacher - District Wide INTERNAL

PROGRAM DATES:           Monday, June 1 – Friday, June 26, 2026

PROGRAM LOCATION:     District Wide

PROGRAM HOURS:           ECEC 9:00 AM – 12 NOON (District Program)

K-5     8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (Summer Journey)

6-8     7:20 AM – 2:20 PM (Summer Journey)

9-12   7:20 AM – 2:20 PM (District Program)

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Summer School Special Education Support Teacher provides instructional and behavioral support to students with disabilities in a summer school setting. This position requires collaboration with general education teachers, special education staff, and school administrators, as well as coordination with the Director of Student Services and the Summer Journey Special Education Administrative Intern, to ensure that students receive the necessary accommodations and modifications to succeed in the summer learning program. The teacher will support the Extended School Year (ESY) program across all district sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide specialized support for students with disabilities in the summer school setting.
Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and administrators to ensure effective accommodations and modifications are in place.
Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support students in achieving their learning goals.
Adapt and differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
Manage classroom behavior effectively and provide behavioral interventions as needed.
Monitor and track student progress, adjusting support strategies as necessary.
Maintain clear communication with parents, staff, and administrators regarding student progress and needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a current district employee
Valid Missouri K-12 Special Education Certification.
Minimum of 3 years of experience working within Special Education.
Strong classroom management and behavioral intervention skills.
Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt curriculum to meet the individual needs of students.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Patience, flexibility, and a student-centered mindset.
Experience working with students with disabilities and knowledge of IEPs and accommodations.
Ability to work effectively in a team and contribute positively to the overall success of the summer program.
