POSITION SUMMARY: To provide all students with an enriched library environ­ment containing a wide variety and range of materials that will invite intellectual growth, and to aid all students in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of library resources.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

Valid Missouri Certification __ K-12 Librarian or  K-12 Library Media Specialist
Successful classroom experience as a teacher
Knowledge and understanding of computers

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all library materials and instruct teachers and students on the use of the system.
Participate in the development of library policies.
Create and maintain an atmosphere conducive to effective library use.
Promote appropriate conduct of students using library facilities.
Design and implement a functional library skills program for students in assigned buildings.
Provide reading guidance for individuals and groups.
Assist teachers by providing materials to supplement classroom curriculum.
Assist teachers in planning assignments likely to lead to extended use of library resources and in the ordering of materials related to classroom use.
Participate in curriculum study and revision.
Participate in faculty meetings and all school functions.
Provide professional materials to faculty.
Prepare and administer the library budget.
Evaluates, promotes and uses existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning
Collaborates to design, teach, and assess learning experiences that incorporate inquiry learning, information literacies in their formats, critical thinking and self-assessment
