Job Description
Purpose Statement
The Francis Howell School District is seeking a Special Education Process Coordinator to support building-level special education processes, including initial evaluations and compliance. This teacher-level position will serve two buildings, with assignments determined by the Director in consultation with building principals, and will work closely with the Director of Alternative Learning and Special Education Program Coordinators.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with the state plan for special education, IDEA, and ADA in collaboration with building administration and special education staff
Coordinate and complete all required documentation for initial evaluations, including initial consideration, ROED, and eligibility reports
Manage and complete YCDD reevaluations, including ROED and eligibility reports
Assist with evaluations by conducting observations and managing rating scales (distribution, scoring, and reporting)
Serve as LEA for evaluation-related meetings when a principal is unavailable
Review transfer records for incoming special education students and complete required documentation
Maintain accurate records, including documentation of parent communication
Collaborate with staff, families, and district personnel to support student needs
May serve as Special Education Department Chair, as assigned
Job Requirements
Education and Experience
Certification in at least one area of special education or a related field
Knowledge of special education processes and compliance requirements
Skills and Abilities
Strong understanding of identification, placement, and programming for students with disabilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to build consensus and resolve conflicts
Experience with evaluation methodologies and data interpretation
Ability to work collaboratively with staff and families
Proficiency with computer applications
Salary
Minimum Starting Salary $49,000. Salary will be commensurate with experience and education.
