Job Description

Work Calendar & Hours

9-month position
Follows the teacher contract & calendar salary starting at $49,000

Purpose Statement

The Content Leader ELA (6-12) serves as a collaborative teacher leader who supports instructional improvement and curriculum implementation within their content area. This role is designed to build teacher capacity, foster academic achievement, and ensure alignment with district curriculum and goals.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with district curriculum coordinators and building administrators to support high-quality ELA instruction

Facilitate content-specific professional development and instructional coaching within the school

Lead or support PLCs to ensure alignment with district curriculum and instructional priorities

Analyze student achievement data to inform instructional practices

Mentor and support new teachers in the ELA department

Assist with the rollout of new curriculum resources and instructional strategies

Provide input on the development and refinement of curriculum and assessments

Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and academic excellence

Job Requirements

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Demonstrated expertise in ELA content, curriculum, and instruction

Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills

Ability to support and motivate adult learners

Collaborative approach to problem-solving and decision-making

Commitment to equity and excellence in education

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in education or related field (Master's preferred)

Valid Missouri teaching certificate in English Language Arts

Minimum of three years successful classroom teaching experience in ELA

Previous leadership or mentoring experience preferred
