Career Technical Education Teacher, Automotive Technology

As a South Tech Automotive Technology Instructor, you will teach and support high school students as they explore careers in the automotive industry. Using your industry experience, you will guide students in developing technical knowledge, hands-on skills, and safety practices aligned to current industry standards. Through your instruction, you will help students build the skills needed to diagnose, service, and maintain vehicles while preparing them to earn Automotive Service Excellence certifications.
Working in a professional automotive service lab, you will connect instruction directly to real-world expectations and practices. By developing employability skills alongside technical training, you will help students understand the demands of the field and prepare them for both entry into the workforce and continued education in automotive technology.
Experience and Education
Six thousand (6,000) hours of closely related occupational experience obtained within the past ten (10) years. This roughly equates to three (3) years of full-time experience; OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and five thousand (5,000) hours of closely related occupational experience within the past ten (10) years. This roughly equates to two and a half (2.5) years of full-time experience; OR
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university and four thousand (4,000) hours of closely related occupational experience obtained within the past ten (10) years. This roughly equates to two (2) years of full-time experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certificate required; master ASE instructor preferred
Teacher certification is not required upon hire
Apply for career and technical education certification through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and complete up to 18 college credit hours to obtain a Career and Technical Education Teaching Certificate; required

$49,000 to $83,250/year based on experience and education
