DESCRIPTION: Purdy School District is seeking a high quality Secondary Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Purdy School District is a progressive district which serves approximately 650 students in grades K-12. Applicants must have valid Missouri certification in Science, knowledge in effective teaching/learning strategies, and effective classroom management skills.
SUMMARY: To create a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education, in accordance with each pupil's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
Teaches district approved curriculum.
Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
Communicates regularly with parents both during and outside normal school day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals, and develops strategies for individual education plans.
Creates an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of students' work.
Participates in professional growth activities and follows the policies and procedures of the school district.

Meets and instructs assigned learners (caseload, class, peers, in-service, children, pupils, students) in the locations and at the times designated.
Regularly assesses student accomplishments and provides progress reports as required.
Maintains complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
Assists the administration in implementing district rules and policies on student conduct, develops classroom rules on behavior and procedures, and maintains fair and just order in the classroom.
Assist in collection of data for providing appropriate classroom interventions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Classroom and students
May include other areas of campus including, but not limited to, hallways, common areas, athletic facilities, parking lots, etc.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited four-year college or university (Required); Valid teaching certification from the state of Missouri or the ability to prove eligibility thereof.
