Library Technology Specialist - Rose Acres Elementary School - 2026-2027 School Year

The primary responsibility of this position is to work directly with students. This is a specialized position that requires knowledge of the instructional processes, technology applications, and library services. The LMS will provide leadership and expertise required to ensure that the library media program is aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school and is an integral component of the school's instructional program. The LMS is required to hold a valid Library Media Specialist certificate. The school principal(s) serve as the supervisor(s) for the LMS. The LMS may expect significant levels of support from the Teaching & Learning and Technology departments.
Required Qualifications: Missouri Library Media Specialist Certification

Experience with instruction on information and technology literacy skills, including the research process
Knowledge and appreciation of a variety of age appropriate literature
Successfully interact and communicate with students and staff from various cultural backgrounds, disciplines, and with differing skill levels
Ability to ensure equitable procedures and instruction to support student learning
Leadership, organizational, and budget management skills
Experience in evaluating and selecting print and digital resources
Demonstrated knowledge of learning styles and cultural influences on learning
Familiarity with national and state standards for information and technology literacy including Missouri Librarian standards, American Association of School Librarians (AASL), and the International Society for Technology in Education (ITSE) standards
Instructional Process
Actively promote reading a variety of print and digital sources through activities such as book clubs, reading programs, reading initiatives and other special events
Instruct students and staff in information and digital literacy skills, including reading for understanding, the research process, engaging inquiry, collaboration, critical thinking, and understanding copyright, fair use, and licensing of intellectual property
Work as an instructional partner by collaborating with teaching staff in preparing, delivering effective lessons and/or curating resources to build information literacy and reading skills to support the Board approved district curriculum
Develop a school library media center that addresses 21st century skills, including life and career development, learning and innovation, and information, media and technology literacy
Providing personalized resource recommendations and guidance to students, helping them identify and access relevant materials for their individual learning goals.
Collaborating with teachers to develop and implement innovative learning experiences that leverage diverse resources and technologies.
Creating and maintaining a makerspace or innovation lab that provides students with opportunities to explore, create, and innovate using a variety of tools and technologies.
Creating and maintaining a welcoming and inclusive learning environment that fosters a sense of belonging and empowers students to take ownership of their learning.
Serve as an exemplary model teacher-librarian in all content areas.
Management
Create and maintain a school library media center that provides a teaching and learning environment that is inviting, safe, readily accessible, and conducive to student learning
Effectively manages student behavior
Develop and maintain a print and digital collection appropriate to district standards, curriculum, and teaching and learning within the school community
Effectively manage and utilize library management software to maintain accurate catalog information
Directly communicate updates and changes in library matters to staff and students at the building level
Maintain school library budget and coordinate purchases with the Teaching & Learning department.
Work in collaboration with the district technology specialist
Provide assistance with media production activities at the school
Manage audio-visual equipment and/or coordinate with the Audio Visual coordinator
Interpersonal Relationships
Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with parents/community, staff, and students
Advocates for library programs by encouraging collaboration with teachers, administrators, and community partners
Professional Responsibilities
Follows school district policies and procedures
Utilizes district technology appropriately
Participates in professional growth activities that support implementing Pattonville's curriculum and align with the District's Professional Development Areas of Emphasis
Assumes school-related responsibilities outside the classroom
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal(s).

Work Hours: 7.25 hours per day; 5 days per week
Work calendar: 189 days (2026-2027 calendar)
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary: Commensurate with years of full-time teaching experience. Service credit is awarded on a year-by-year basis, with a maximum of 20 years recognized. (Certified Teacher Salary Schedule 2026-2027)
