Job Title: High School Business/Technology Teacher (Grades 9 - 12)
Reports To: Building Administration
Employee Status: Full Time, Exempt, Certified Teacher Salary Schedule
Evaluation: Completed Annually by Building Administration
JOB SUMMARY: The High School Business/Technology Teacher empowers students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to thrive in today's tech-driven business environment. This role blends foundational business education—covering management, finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship—with essential technology instruction. Students gain hands-on experience with software applications, digital literacy, and real-world tech tools that prepare them for both college and modern career pathways. Certified staff of Oak Grove R- VI School District can participate in Career Ladder. Staff with two years of experience teaching in a Missouri Public School may earn $1,500 - $5,000 for approved work outside of the school day.
Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:
Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that promote active learning.
Teach business and technology courses to Oak Grove High School students while collaborating with staff to support district educational goals.
Assess and evaluate each student's academic growth, understanding, and progress.
Adapt productively to change and respond constructively to feedback related to job performance.
Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain and enhance instructional skills.
Develop units of study, lesson plans, and assessments in accordance with established curriculum guidelines.
Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials, equipment, and technology tools.
Integrate relevant technology to support, enhance, and differentiate instruction.
Establish and enforce classroom rules and procedures to maintain a positive learning environment.
Uphold school and district disciplinary policies and expectations.
Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work.
Track individual student progress and use data to adjust instructional strategies.
Maintain accurate and complete records of student performance and development.
Update required documentation in compliance with laws, district policies, and school regulations.
Prepare and submit reports related to students, classroom activities, and instructional programs.
Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings as required.
Communicate regularly with students, colleagues, and parents regarding academic progress and student needs.
Establish and communicate clear learning objectives for all instructional activities.
Prepare the classroom environment to support planned learning experiences.
Provide a variety of instructional materials and resources to support student learning.
Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and other assessments.
Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:
Complete forms, write reports and engage in written correspondence with parents
Present information effectively and respond to questions
Write clear and complete lesson plans
Interpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Apply knowledge of current educational theory and instructional techniques while presenting subject matter to students
Identify needs and abilities of individual students and adapt instructional methods accordingly
Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents
Perform multiple tasks simultaneously
Perform basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use
Use district software for recording grades and finding student information
Utilize smart boards, projectors and other instructional technology provided by the district.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Ability Required:
Knowledge of High School Business and Technology curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught.
Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
Ability to organize and coordinate work.
Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation about performance and professional growth.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Certification:
Must hold, be eligible for, maintain a Valid Teaching Certificate through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for the area of application for all grade levels notated above.
Bachelor's Degree required.
Master's degree preferred, however, not required.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, and reach with hands and arms. Must occasionally lift, move, and/or support up to 10 pounds or more as needed.

Employment in this position is contingent upon consent to and successful completion of a pre-employment background check, which may include a criminal background check, reference checks, verification of work history, and verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications, with results acceptable to the Oak Grove R-VI School District. Background check information will be used in a confidential, non-discriminatory manner consistent with state and federal law.
