Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Advanced Business Education Teacher will provide instruction in high-level business courses such as Business Management, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Entrepreneurship, and related subjects at the secondary level. The teacher is responsible for creating a rigorous, engaging, and career-relevant learning environment that prepares students for post-secondary education, business careers, or participation in programs such as DECA or FBLA.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Develop and deliver standards-based instruction in advanced business courses aligned with Missouri Learning Standards and Career & Technical Education (CTE) frameworks.
Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, real-world applications, and technology tools to engage students in learning.
Incorporate financial literacy, business law, ethics, marketing, and entrepreneurship topics into coursework.
Prepare students for industry-recognized credentials and/or post-secondary education pathways.
Integrate technology, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, QuickBooks, and business simulations.
Support student participation in CTSOs such as DECA or FBLA through sponsorship and event preparation.
Develop authentic assessments and maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, and community partners to support business career readiness.
Maintain a positive and safe classroom environment that fosters respect, discipline, and academic excellence.
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and class activities.
Comply with all district policies, state regulations, and CTE reporting requirements.
Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:
Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
Participate in appropriate professional activities.
Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations as directed.
Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district and state.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Business Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate in Business Education (Grades 9–12).
Strong knowledge of business content areas and teaching methods.
Proficiency in business software and instructional technology.
Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred
Master’s degree in Business Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related area.
Prior teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level.
Experience with career technical education (CTE) programs, industry certifications, and work-based learning.
CTSO (FBLA, DECA) sponsorship experience.
Knowledge of Missouri CTE compliance, MOSIS reporting, and Perkins requirements.
