Job Description

Missouri Options Teacher

Essential Functions

Must possess and maintain a professional attitude and climate that is conducive to working with at-risk youth.
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interest, and abilities of students.
Provide direct one-on-one/small group instruction as needed and assist with online instruction to students that are enrolled in CASA
Coordinate and deliver core educational programming for the students placed in the program.
Ability to use blended learning and differentiate methods and meet specific student needs
Support student social/emotional development
Work with students on research-based strategies to improve student achievement (e.g. goal setting),
Communicate with parents regarding academic progress; etc.
Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
Must possess the ability to motivate students towards task completion and incorporate accountability systems of assurance.
Serves students that have been placed in C.A.S.A./long term suspension as an alternative to out-of-school suspension.
Must be available for afterschool meetings throughout the school year as needed.

Note: The program will primarily focus on supporting secondary students. However, elementary students may periodically be placed in this program.

Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the coordinator of alternative learning/principal(s).

Qualifications

Missouri K-12 teaching certification (Staff member will provide direct instruction in auxiliary subject areas: high school electives and middle school arts)
Special education certification preferred

Education

Bachelors or masters degree from an accredited college or university.
