The district offers several extended breaks

POSITION TITLE: Teacher - Elementary (1-5)
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
LOCATION: Hawthorne

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
Valid Missouri teaching certificate appropriate for elementary grade levels
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate

PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Elementary Teacher provides high-quality instruction that supports the academic, social, and emotional development of students in an elementary learning environment. This position plans and delivers engaging lessons aligned with district curriculum and Missouri Learning Standards while fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom culture. The Elementary Teacher collaborates with colleagues, families, and administrators to promote student growth and achievement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Instruction and Curriculum

Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with district curriculum and Missouri Learning Standards
Differentiate instruction to meet student needs and learning styles
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technology tools to enhance learning
Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on assessment data

Classroom Environment and Student Support

Create and maintain a positive, safe, and respectful classroom environment
Implement classroom management strategies that support student engagement and behavior expectations
Support students’ social-emotional development and well-being
Collaborate with support staff to implement interventions and accommodations

Assessment and Communication

Assess student learning through formative and summative measures
Maintain accurate student records and grades
Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities
Participate in parent-teacher conferences and team meetings

Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with grade-level teams and school staff
Participate in professional development and school improvement initiatives
Follow district policies, procedures, and professional standards
Support school events and activities as assigned

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
Attend meetings as assigned.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
Remain current on instructional practices in education.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal

Strong instructional planning and classroom management skills
Effective communication and collaboration abilities
Knowledge of Missouri Learning Standards
Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Organizational and time-management skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Ability to move throughout the classroom and school environment
Ability to supervise students indoors and outdoors
Occasional lifting of instructional materials or equipment
Participation in school events or meetings outside of regular hours as needed

Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position

Exempt

Salary Grade
Certified

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 month contract year
Annual contract for school year and Extended School Year, if applicable, in accordance with the provisions of Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified staff.
Background clearance required; the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.

EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated by the Building Principal in accordance with district policies and teacher evaluation procedures.
