Job Description

English Language Development (ELD) Teacher

Blades Elementary School

2026-2027

Qualifications:  Requires valid Missouri English Language Development (ELD) teaching certificate.

Position Summary:  To create an educational program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with students; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a quality education, in accordance with each student’s ability; establish good relationships with parents and with other staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Other duties may be assigned.

Teaches district approved curriculum and adheres to adopted Board of Education policies.
Identifies ELD student language proficiency level and develops strategies for individual learning plans.
Collaborates with classroom teachers to link ELD and content standards in order to provide support to English language development.
Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff and community.
Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each ELD student.
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
Uses differentiated instruction and interventions to meet the needs of English language developers.
Ensures that communications to parents are translated into parents’ home language whenever possible.
Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Director and/or Principal.
Ability to work independently.
