Position Summary:
The ELA Interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement at Kansas City 33 Non-Public Attendance Centers in grades third through eight in English Language Arts with special attention to Tier II and Tier III reading instruction. The Interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance.
What You'll Be Doing: (Responsibilities)
Assumes primary responsibility for implementation of the comprehensive reading support program at Kansas City 33 Non-Public Attendance Centers in grades third through eight • Assists teachers, administration, and families with identifying students for placement in intervention groups, including diagnostic assessments as needed • Supports implementation of assessment tools and data management systems • Collaborates with staff to identify research-based interventions and best practices for individual and small groups of students • Uses data to provide high quality reading instruction to students and small groups to bring their skills to grade-level • Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress • Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress • Attends the appropriate trainings to improve knowledge and skills • Provides professional development for building
To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need: (Qualifications)
Hold a valid Missouri Teaching certificate • 3 or more years of experience as an effective teacher • Professional Development experience at the site or district level

Special Reading Certificate K-12 • Previous experience as an Interventionist
Physical Demands:
This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least ten pounds. Job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Terms of Employment:
Length of work year: 10 months, 5 days a week, 7.5 hours per day
