Job Description
ECSE Pre-K Educator: Architect of Inclusion
Location: Duchesne (1), Commons Lane (2), Parker Road (1) Primary School
Year: 2026-2027 School Year
The Opportunity: Building the Foundation of Belonging
In our Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) classrooms, we believe that every child’s potential is limitless. We are looking for a passionate, certified Special Education Teacher who specializes in the "magic" of early childhood. You are the specialist who sees the brilliance in every scholar, regardless of their developmental path, and creates a classroom where "access" is the standard and "growth" is the celebration.
As part of the Ferguson-Florissant "New Chapter," you will lead a multidisciplinary team to ensure our youngest learners with diverse needs are prepared for a lifetime of success. If you are a champion for equity and a master of play-based intervention, your next chapter starts here.
Role Summary
As an ECSE Pre-K Teacher, you will lead a specialized classroom environment for children ages 3–5 with identified disabilities. You will design and implement highly individualized, play-based instruction that aligns with both Missouri Early Learning Standards and specific IEP goals. Working at the heart of a collaborative team—including therapists, paraprofessionals, and families—you will foster a nurturing community where social-emotional wellbeing and academic readiness go hand-in-hand.

Equity Champion: You are a fierce advocate for inclusive practices, ensuring your scholars are seen as vital members of the wider school community.
Relationship Builder: You understand that for many families, you are their first guide into the world of Special Education, and you lead that journey with empathy and clarity.
Your Impact (Key Duties)
Lead the IEP Journey: Draft, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that are data-driven, compliant, and deeply personal to each child.
Inspire Through Play: Facilitate a "hands-on" learning environment where therapy goals (Speech, OT, PT) are seamlessly woven into daily centers and play.
Coordinate the Team: Lead your classroom paraprofessionals and partner with related service providers to ensure a consistent, "Whole Child" approach.
Empower Families: Provide regular, meaningful communication to parents, helping them celebrate milestones and navigate the transition to Kindergarten.
Cultivate Regulation: Use trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming strategies to help students learn to navigate their emotions and their environment safely.
