Job Description

Intermediate Educator (Grades 3-5)

Location: Combs Intermediate School (Grades 3-5)

Year: 2026-2027 School Year

In our intermediate buildings, students are finding their voices, and we need educators who can help them project them. Whether it’s 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade, this is the "bridge" where foundational skills meet critical thinking.

As part of the Ferguson-Florissant "New Chapter," you won't just be lecturing from a SMART Board, you will be joining a visionary team dedicated to equity, innovation and excitement for education.

Role Summary

As an Intermediate Teacher, you will lead a classroom within one of our six dedicated intermediate elementary schools (Grades 3-5). You will facilitate a rigorous, student-centered environment that prepares young learners for the transition to middle school through collaborative projects, data-driven instruction, and strong social-emotional support.  Working collaboratively with families, colleagues, and the community, you will help create a positive learning experience that empowers every student to succeed.

Certified Professional: Valid Missouri Teaching Certification (Elementary Ed 1-6).
Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree, required; Master’s degree, preferred.

Bridge the Gap: Guide students as they transition from foundational literacy to complex, inquiry-based learning.
Collaborate: Partner with your grade-level PLC to analyze student growth and pivot instruction in real-time.
Utilize Resources: Leverage our district’s unique assets, like Little Creek Nature Area and our STEAM initiatives, to make learning multi-dimensional.
Foster Belonging: Build a classroom culture where "Community" isn't just a word on the wall, but a lived experience for every student.

Classification: Exempt, Certified Staff
Work Year: 10-Month Academic Calendar, 187 Contract Days
Salary: Based on the Teacher Salary Schedule, as outlined in district policy and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.  Salary is determined based on experience and education.
