Job Description

TITLE: ELEMENTARY SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER - 26/27

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Camdenton R-III School District is seeking an elementary teacher that provides specialized instruction and support to students with physical, mental, emotional, or learning disabilities. Successful candidates will be responsible for facilitating student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills though implementing district approved curriculum, while addressing specific educational needs of individual students and creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment. Creating a culture of "Everyone Learning Every Day".

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess and maintain a proper Missouri bachelors degree in Elementary education and Mild/Moderate Cross-Categorical Disabilities (K-12) teaching certificate.
Pass all background checks and screenings.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Behavior analyst certification (not required)
In-District Autism Consultant certification (not required)

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Director of Student Services

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching Strategies & Classroom Management

Deliver a variety of service delivery approaches, utilizing a highly structured "I Do, We Do, You Do" framework to ensure mastery through scaffolded practice.
Implement the Six Models of Co-Teaching.
Meet regularly with General Education partners to align specialized interventions with core grade-level curriculum.
Facilitate intensive "Pull-Out" sessions for high-frequency feedback and the use of specialized, high-impact instructional tools.
Create lesson plans that explicitly address the "how" of learning incorporating multi-sensory approaches, scaffolding, and strategic questioning tailored to individual IEP goals.
Utilize progress monitoring data to adjust lesson plans, re-teach concepts that haven't been mastered before moving on to new material.
Prepare specialized materials—such as visual schedules, adapted texts, or assistive technology interfaces—well in advance of instructional delivery.
Create a suitable atmosphere for learning while maintaining order and student safety across all school environments (classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and grounds).

Behavior Management & Support

Implement and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans for students who require specific behavioral strategies to succeed.
De-escalate high-stress situations using approved techniques to maintain a safe environment for both the student and their peers.
Provide direct instruction in organizational skills, time management, and study strategies to help students navigate their general education requirements.
Schedule, train, and direct paraprofessionals to ensure they are effectively supporting student goals and following safety protocols.

Case Management & Compliance

Develop and maintain a schedule that aligns with the "Service Delivery" page of every student's IEP, ensuring all service minutes are met with 100% compliance
Draft comprehensive IEPs, including Present Levels, measurable annual goals, and required services.
Collect and analyze data on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to track student growth toward specific IEP benchmarks.
Lead IEP, Review of Existing Data, and Re-evaluation meetings with parents, general education teachers, related service providers, and administrators.
Maintain records of service minutes, parent communication, and behavioral incidents to ensure district and federal (IDEA) compliance.
Advise General Education teachers on how to modify curriculum vs. providing accommodations to ensure students can access the core content.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Building Principal, Director of Student Services and other Central Office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

9 month contract (179 days)
Salary Schedule - Salary is commensurate with experience and education. Base salary starts at $43,500
