Job Description

Position Summary

North Side Community School is seeking a visionary and dedicated Early Childhood Center Director to lead our campus focused on our youngest learners (PreK and Kindergarten). Reporting to the Executive Director, this role is responsible for the overall management, instructional leadership, and operational excellence of the Early Childhood Center. We are looking for a leader who can foster a nurturing, high-engagement environment while ensuring rigorous academic and social-emotional growth for all students as they begin their educational journey.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $75,000.

Essential Functions

  • Instructional Leadership: Oversee the implementation of early childhood and foundational elementary curricula (e.g., Apple Tree Every Child Ready) ensuring a seamless transition from PreK to Kindergarten.
  • School Culture: Maintain a warm, inclusive, and safe environment where students feel encouraged to take academic risks and staff feel supported.
  • Staff Management: Supervise, evaluate, and provide professional development for PreK and Kindergarten teachers and support staff to ensure high-quality instruction and classroom management.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day campus operations, including scheduling, facilities coordination, and adherence to school policies and state licensing requirements.
  • Family & Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with parents and community partners, providing regular updates on student progress and school initiatives.
  • Data-Driven Leadership: Analyze student assessment data to drive instructional improvements and track developmental milestones across the early childhood spectrum.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Serve as a key member of the NSCS Leadership Team to ensure alignment between the Early Childhood Center and the Elementary campus.

  • Expertise: Deep knowledge of early childhood development, Kindergarten readiness, instructional best practices, and Missouri licensing standards.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to motivate staff, model a growth mindset, and manage complex school operations.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, families, and community stakeholders.
  • Organizational Excellence: Strong project management skills with high attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Certification: Valid Missouri state teaching or administrative certification (or eligibility to receive one).
  • Experience: Significant experience in early childhood or elementary instruction and at least 3 years in a school leadership or supervisory role.
