Job Description

Compensation

With a minimum starting salary of $52,000, we offer a generous compensation package including an array of benefits including assistance with advanced education. 


Position Summary

North Side Community School seeks a passionate and experienced Elementary Music Teacher to join our St. Louis campus. In this vital role, you will foster a lifelong love for music by creating an engaging learning environment, developing students' musical talents, and contributing to a well-rounded educational experience. We are looking for a dedicated educator who is eager to inspire children of all ages and help them achieve their full potential.


Essential Functions


1. Curriculum & Instruction

  • Design & Implement: Develop a comprehensive, standards-aligned K-5 music curriculum that integrates diverse genres and cultural elements.
  • Engage Students: Deliver interactive lessons using innovative methods and technology to accommodate various learning styles and proficiency levels.
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly evaluate and update instructional materials to reflect current best practices in music education.

2. Ensemble Direction & Performance

  • Direct Ensembles: Lead choral, instrumental, and performance groups, fostering teamwork and discipline through structured rehearsals.
  • Showcase Talent: Coordinate concerts, recitals, and community performances to highlight student achievement.

3. Assessment & Collaboration

  • Evaluate Progress: Use ongoing assessments to track student growth and provide timely, goal-oriented feedback.
  • Integrated Learning: Partner with classroom teachers to create interdisciplinary lessons that connect music to other core subjects.
  • Professional Growth: Contribute to professional learning communities (PLCs) to ensure consistent assessment and instructional standards.

4. Community Outreach

  • Advocacy: Promote music education through regular communication with parents and participation in school-wide events.
  • Partnerships: Collaborate with local artists and organizations to provide students with diverse, real-world musical exposures.

Education, Certification, Experience


  1. Required Education:
  2. Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music, or a related field is essential.
  3. Teaching certification or licensure in the state of Missouri is required (or ability to receive reciprocal certification).
  4. Required Experience:
  5. Demonstrated experience teaching music at the elementary level.
  6. Experience in designing and implementing a comprehensive music curriculum.
  7. Proven success in directing and leading musical ensembles or choirs.
  8. Preferred Experience:
  9. Familiarity with the Missouri state standards for music education.
  10. Experience in integrating technology into music education.
