SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER
REPORTS TO: Elementary School Administration
PAY TYPE: Contract, Non-Supervisory
PAY RATE: Based upon the WLCSC Master Teacher Contract (see attachment)
BENEFITS: Eligible (see attachment)
SCHEDULE: 183 Days; Follows school calendar

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities
Evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives
Functions as IEP manager to assigned students
Delivers research-based instruction to meet IEP goals
Assesses student progress and adjusts instruction as needed
Uses diverse teaching methods to support IEP objective.
Develops and implements IEPs, including goals and services
Follows procedural requirements and coordinates IEP services
Acts as primary contact for parents and schedules meetings
Guides paraprofessional staff and provides instructional oversight
Collaborates with educators and community service providers
Advises teachers on adaptations, modifications, and interventions for students with disabilities
Offers expertise to staff and the community in instructional matters
Attends training, conferences, and meetings to stay current on trends and technologies
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education, Training, and Experience Required:
Bachelor's Degree (minimum)
Valid Indiana Teacher's License in Special Education or pending licensure
Displays excellent communication skills and professional demeanor
Experience working in a school environment preferred
IDOE Special Programs training certified, or willingness to complete
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
Displays positive and enthusiastic attitude
Ability to work as a team with other staff
Displays dependability and punctuality
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Position works indoors in a typical school classroom environment
May work near others, often within a few feet
May occasionally be exposed to noise levels that are distracting
