5th AREA SPECIALIST JOB DESCRIPTION

AMY BEVERLAND ELEMENTARY

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree (BA) from a four-year accredited college or university. Experience working with children and parents preferred.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following responsibilities represent the minimum requirements of the 5th Area Specialist position. The position requires 6.5 hours per day with an additional 1.0 hours per week attending after school professional development/clubs. The 5th Area Specialist reports to and is evaluated by the Principal or designee.

Description of 5th Area Special Content:

STEM Curriculum as outlined by the Indiana Academic Standards.

PLANNING

Create weekly, objective-driven lesson plans for each grade taught
Prepare materials prior to the start of each class

INSTRUCTION

Develop student understanding and mastery of content
Demonstrate and clearly communicate content to students
Engage students in academic content
Check for understanding
Maximize instructional time
Create classroom culture of respect and collaboration
Set high expectations for academic success

Operate and care for equipment used in the learning environment
Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips
