POSITION: Pre K - 12 Teachers (s)

LOCATION: District Wide

Reports to: Building Principal

Job Goal:  To create a flexible elementary grade program and/or high school, a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth. To establish effective rapport with pupils. To motivate pupils to develop skills, attitude and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education, in accordance with each pupil’s ability. To establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Bachelors of Arts Degree

·        Valid Indiana Teaching Certification

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.     Assure compliance with all State Department laws and all Board of Education policies and regulations of the Superintendent relating to transportation

2.     Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district

3.     Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil

4.     Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences

5.     Assess and modify instruction for students not mastering state and local standards

6.     Determine accommodations and methods of teaching and grading a student’s progress

7.     Experience in Skyward student management

8.     Provide consultation to colleagues when needed

9.     Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences and etc

10. Established and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere

11. Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth; keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports

12. Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans

13. Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day

14. Plans and coordinates the work of paraprofessionals, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips

15. Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student

16. Creates an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays interest centers and exhibits of student’s work

17. Collaborate with teachers serving students with disabilities: co-planning, team teaching

18. Share resources for the benefit of each child

19. Performs other related duties, as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school duties
