POSITION:                     Pre- K Teacher(s)

                                                          

REPORTS TO:                Building Principal

LOCATION:                       Carrie Gosch Pre-K Early Learning Center                                     

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To create a flexible early childhood education program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitude and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for early childhood education, in accordance with each pupil’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree

·        Valid Indiana State Teacher’s License Kindergarten, Elementary Education or Early Childhood License required

·        Maintain communication with parents and general education teachers

·        Flexible, organized, takes initiative, willing to share ideas

·        Work respectfully and collaboratively with other team members

·        Exemplary behavior management skills

·        Technology skills for the development of individual education programs

·        Good conflict resolution and people skills

·        Must possess written communication skills, including the ability to draft, edit, and proofread emails, as well as reading comprehension to respond to those emails.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  2. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
  3. Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs
  4. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
  5. Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development
  6. Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  7. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
  8. Provide guidance and direction to classroom support staff
  9. Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary
  10. Support and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health and behavioral challenges
  11. Maintaining an effective environment for learning through creation of daily lessons plans, intentional presentation of materials centered hands-on learning opportunities. Create, manage and participate in a variety of learning environments and activities that provide opportunities for students to develop to their fullest potential and achieve their learning objectives
  12. Create and deliver lesson plans, implement school curriculum, and assess developmental needs of students
  13. Experience in Skyward student management
  14. Maintain a healthy and safe environment
  15. Communicate positively with students, parents, and staff
  16. Participate collaboratively and professionally with other teachers and staff to promote the general well-being of the school, and collective/individual interest of its staff and student body
  17. Interpret assessment results for parents and, where appropriate, for students and school staff
  18. Assist in the development of other components of students’ development, health and social history
  19. Serve as a resource and collaborate with outside agencies as appropriate
  20. Attend and participate in special education staff meetings
  21. Establish positive relationships with student by counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement
  22. Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
  23. Plan and use appropriate research-based instructional/learning strategies, activities materials and technology that reflect accommodations for individual needs of students assigned
  24.  Performs other related duties, as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school duties
