Job Description

High School Alternative Education Teacher

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher required
Appropriate INDOE licensure
Ability to maintain classroom discipline and interact well with students in a variety of educational settings, which will not be limited to the traditional classroom setting.
Good organizational and communication skills
Comfortable working with students on a variety of assignments in varying subjects
Possesses good basic computer skills
Support the philosophy and mission of Danville Community School Corporation

Supervises:

Teacher aides and Students involved in the alternative education program at CNC

Position Goal:

To assist students in the Alternative Education program with the mastery of their scheduled coursework, and the daily and orderly operation of the Alternative Education Program.

Performance Responsibilities:

Support the established student enrollment expectations of the alternative education setting.
Provide supervision for students in and about the assigned campus as part of the orderly operation of the campus.
Provide direct instruction and/or tutoring to students as needed and directed by the High School Principal.
Maintain classroom discipline that is conducive to a learning environment that supports all students in the learning process.
Assist and maintain records of attendance, grades, and other educational data on Alternative Education students.
Assist in the development of the curriculum specific to licensed areas of study.
Maintain scheduled working hours to help ensure the orderly operation of the assigned educational setting.
Performs and participates in other duties as assigned by the Director of Alternative Education and/or the Superintendent of Schools.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Performs other such duties as assigned by the building Principal and/or Superintendent of schools.

Number of Days Worked Per Year:

185 student days per year (per Teacher Master Agreement) Plus 15 additional days per school year
