Job Description
Key Performance Responsibilities
- Standards-Aligned Instruction: Plan, prepare, and deliver Tier 1 ELA instructional material encompassing reading comprehension, literary analysis, narrative/expository writing, grammar, vocabulary, and oral communication.
- State Assessment Alignment: Design formative and summative assessments that align with Indiana state standardized testing (ILEARN).
- Data-Driven Intervention: Analyze Lexile levels, writing samples, and testing metrics to differentiate instruction for Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), English Language Learners (ELL), and students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Classroom Management: Establish a structured, identity-safe, and student-centered classroom culture with consistent behavioral routines.
- Professional Collaboration: Actively engage in grade-level team meetings and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to evaluate student work and share best practices.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular, proactive contact with parents and guardians regarding academic growth via digital learning management systems and parent-teacher conferences.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, English, or a related field.
- Licensure: Must hold or be eligible for a valid Indiana Educator License with an endorsement covering Middle School Language Arts (Grades 5-12, Grades 5-9, or elementary/secondary ELA certifications). Transition-to-Teaching or emergency permit paths are also considered based on district policy.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with educational technology, digital grading systems, and interactive learning management tools.
- Compliance: Strong understanding of school corporation policies, Indiana Civil Rights Law, and federal education regulations like FERPA and Special Education compliance.
