Job Description
IMSA Central is a brand new expansion public charter school opening in Fall 2026. As a Founding Teacher, you have the opportunity to help build a school from day 1. The Multilingual Learners (MLL) Teacher is responsible for providing targeted English language development instruction to students whose home languages are not English. The MLL Teacher ensures compliance with state and federal guidelines, delivers language instruction aligned to WIDA standards, and collaborates with classroom teachers to support multilingual students' academic and linguistic success. This role requires strong instructional planning, data-driven decision-making, and consistent communication with families and staff.

Requirements:
Instructional Planning and Delivery:
- Develop and implement instructional plans aligned to WIDA English Language
- Development Standards and the school’s curriculum.
- Provide direct language instruction in listening, speaking, reading, and writing appropriate to students’ proficiency levels (Entering–Bridging).
- Use evidence-based strategies to support vocabulary acquisition, academic language development, and comprehension.
- Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices to validate and support students’ home languages and identities.
- Monitor student progress using formative assessments and adjust instruction accordingly.
Compliance & Program Requirements:
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation for ILPs (Individualized Learning Plans).
- Ensure implementation of ILP accommodations in all classrooms by collaborating with teachers and support staff.
- Administer required assessments, including WIDA Screener and WIDA ACCESS, and report results accurately.
- Support compliance for state and federal English Learner requirements, including parent communication forms and program notifications.
Student Support & Differentiation:
- Provide targeted small-group or one-on-one instruction based on language proficiency data.
- Support students with additional needs, including those who are dually identified for Special Education or 504 services.
- Scaffold grade-level content to ensure access to core instruction while supporting language development.
- Use data to identify students who need additional help or who are ready for monitoring/exiting.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to integrate language supports into daily instruction.
- Participate in MTSS/RTI meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and staff meetings.
- Communicate with families in a linguistically appropriate manner using translated materials or interpreters as needed.
- Work with administrators, instructional coaches, SPED staff, and other specialists to support each multilingual learner’s growth.
Professional Development & Growth:
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to WIDA, second-language acquisition, and culturally responsive practices.
- Stay current with state guidance and updates regarding multilingual learner instruction and assessment.
- Implement feedback from instructional leaders to strengthen teaching effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, TESOL, ESL, Linguistics, or related field.
- Valid Indiana Teaching License with an EL/ESL endorsement or ability to obtain appropriate licensure.
- Experience working with multilingual learners or English language development preferred.
- Strong understanding of WIDA standards, SEL proficiency levels, and best practices for language instruction.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Must complete and clear all required Indiana background checks for school personnel.
