Job Description:
Viola School District is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Secondary Science Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about engaging students in hands-on, inquiry-based learning while fostering critical thinking and real-world application of scientific concepts. This position includes teaching middle and/or high school science courses, depending on certification and district needs.
Responsibilities:
The Secondary Science Teacher will plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned to Arkansas state standards while creating a positive, engaging, and safe classroom environment. The teacher will utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including labs, projects, and technology integration, to enhance student learning. Responsibilities also include regularly assessing student progress and adjusting instruction as needed, maintaining accurate records of attendance, grades, and performance, and communicating effectively with students, parents, and staff. The teacher will be expected to participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to school activities that support student success and a positive school culture.
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a valid Arkansas teaching license with appropriate Secondary Science certification or have the ability to obtain one. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong classroom management and organizational skills, effective communication and collaboration abilities, and a clear commitment to student success and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching middle school and/or high school science, possess a background in multiple science disciplines such as biology, physical science, or chemistry, and have experience implementing hands-on labs and STEM-based instruction.
