Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Health Care and Human Services Instructor
QUALIFICATIONS:
ADE Licensure/Technical Permit in one of the following areas:
611 – Medical Professions
625 – Sports Medicine
*Current Medical License/Certification Required
REPORTS TO: Principal and Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE)
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200 days with benefits provided according to Siloam Springs School Board policies
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Knowledge of classroom management, teaching strategies, performance assessments, and motivation of teenagers
Knowledge and experience in the medical field in areas such as nursing, paramedic, or medical lab
Skill in recruiting and retaining students for the Health Care and Human Services pathway
Skill in building positive professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community
Ability to identify strengths in students who are fit for a medical specialization program within the school
Ability to train and establish standards for students completing clinicals within the medical specialization program
Ability to establish and maintain open communication with all stakeholders through a variety of interpersonal, verbal, written, and technological mediums
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to perform job functions with trust, integrity, courtesy, enthusiasm, and a commitment to excellence
Ability to adapt to the culture and expectations of the Siloam Springs School District
Ability to work as a team
Ability to maintain a safe and positive work environment
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as liaison between industry partners and the Health Care and Human Services pathway
Maintain records of inventory, budget, district assets used in the Health and Human Services pathway
Search out and identify skills and certifications that make students more marketable
Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students
Instruct and model interpersonal job skills that will assist students in applying and interviewing for future positions
Bring experts into the classroom
Encourage students to participate and compete in Health Occupation Student Association (HOSA); attend regional, state, and national competitions
Be an active and supportive contributor to district and school academic initiatives
Participate in ongoing training to enhance professional skills and acquire knowledge of the most current methods and techniques
Job Requirements:
Bachelor degree preferred.
