Job Description
Report To: Building Principal/Athletic Director
The secondary Health and Physical Education teacher must possess a strong background in health and physical education content. Provide a variety of physical activities in a safe and orderly environment in order to improve students’ health and wellness as a lifelong goal.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaches physical education and health skills and concepts to grades 7-8 learners in accordance with the Arkansas Curriculum Frameworks for physical education and health wellness and leisure.
Utilizes curriculum and pacing guides, adopted course of study and other materials in planning lesson plans and teaching outlines.
Participate in yearly curriculum review and design
Implement a variety of instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives
Diagnose and evaluates student abilities and progress in a timely manner.
Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
Create a class and school environment that focus on maintaining physical and emotional health as a lifelong goal.
Other Job Responsibilities:
Abide by state statutes, code of ethics , school board policies and regulations
Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators and supervisors
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
Coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises.
Assesses player’s skills, monitors players during competition and practice.
Supervises athletes during practices and competition.
Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
Maintains the equipment room in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security.
Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach.
Submits a list of award winners at the end of the season.
Participates in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
Performs support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records.
Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
Coach Jr. High Volleyball
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Must hold or be eligible to receive a valid Arkansas Teaching License with Grade 7-12 Certification in Health Wellness and Leisure; Coaching endorsement
