Job Description

JOB TITLE: High School Special Education Teacher REPORTS TO: Director of Special Populations

LOCATION: Must be able to commute to the Little Rock, AR campus daily.

STATUS: Open until filled. Target Start Date: As soon as possible


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Commence July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. Compensation will be prorated based on the hiring date and successful completion of the background check. Benefits package offered. NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience.

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Graduate Arkansas, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and skilled Special Education Coordinator to Coordinate and administer all district special education/504 programs for children and young adults with disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA). Monitor operation of district programs for children with disabilities to ensure operation in accordance with state adopted and approved policies, procedures and guidelines. Provide a combination of classroom-based and on-line educational programs for students, to assist in other school programs as assigned, to maintain control, preserve suitable learning conditions, evaluate student progress, and implement teacher standards.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and administer all district special education/504 programs for students with disabilities under IDEA, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Develop, write, and monitor compliant IEPs and 504 plans, including timely scheduling of meetings and completion of required documentation
  • Administer formal and informal assessments required for Special Education qualification and evaluate student progress
  • Provide appropriate modifications and accommodations as outlined in student plans and notify all service providers
  • Develop and teach both in-person and virtual instruction, adapting curriculum to meet diverse student needs
  • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and outside agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students with special needs
  • Train and supervise paraprofessionals on plan implementation and provide ongoing professional development
  • Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and the Arkansas Department of Education Special Education Unit


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Appropriate valid Arkansas Special Education Instructional Specialist Licensure and Bachelor's degree (required)
  • Experience in special education coordination and knowledge of federal/state regulations
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills with ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency with educational technology and relevant software applications
  • Valid Arkansas driver's license
  • Ability to perform in an indoor office/classroom environment with some physical requirements including sitting, standing, and occasional lifting of light objects


This position combines traditional special education expertise with modern digital teaching capabilities to support diverse learners in achieving their full potential.


ENVIRONMENT: The Special Education teacher will work in a fast-paced educational environment that requires adaptability, discretion, and strong problem-solving skills. This role may require occasional travel within the school district and flexibility to attend after-hours meetings or events.
