Secondary Science Teacher (Grades 6–12) – Virtual/Hybrid Teacher Pool

2026–2027 School Year
LISA Academy Hybrid/Online Campus

Position Overview

LISA Academy’s Hybrid/Online Campus is seeking engaging, student-centered educators to join our Secondary Science Teacher Pool (Grades 6–12) for the 2026–2027 school year.

This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with teachers working remotely on Mondays and on campus Tuesday–Friday. Our instructional model is primarily online, with structured on-site learning opportunities for students throughout the week. Teachers support students in both virtual and in-person settings, providing instruction, intervention, and hands-on learning experiences in science.

Under the supervision of the School Principal, the Secondary Science Teacher will implement district-approved curriculum, monitor student progress, and create a rigorous, engaging learning environment that promotes inquiry, problem-solving, and scientific thinking.

Work Schedule
Monday: Remote (planning, grading, virtual communication, and instructional preparation)
Tuesday–Friday: On-site (student support, instruction, interventions, and campus-based learning opportunities, including labs)
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
Deliver standards-aligned science instruction (Grades 6–12), which may include courses such as life science, physical science, earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, or other assigned subjects
Facilitate student learning within an online instructional model, while supporting on-site learning opportunities, including labs and hands-on activities
Design and implement lessons that promote inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and real-world application
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students requiring remediation or enrichment
Student Learning & Assessment
Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative measures, including lab work, projects, and assessments
Use data to inform instruction and provide targeted interventions
Prepare students for state assessments and ensure alignment with district expectations
Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student performance
Classroom Environment & Culture
Establish a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment in both virtual and on-site settings
Promote scientific inquiry, collaboration, and problem-solving
Ensure proper safety procedures are followed during on-site lab activities
Maintain student behavior expectations aligned with school and district policies
Collaboration & Communication
Communicate regularly with students, families, and administration regarding progress and expectations
Support families in understanding the online learning model and student progress in science
Collaborate with science department and grade-level teams to align curriculum and instructional practices
Participate in faculty meetings, professional learning communities, and committees
Professional Growth
Engage in ongoing professional development, including best practices in science instruction and online/blended learning
Reflect on teaching practices and pursue continuous improvement
Additional Responsibilities
Supervise students during on-site learning opportunities and school-day activities
Maintain lab materials, instructional resources, and inventory
Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership
Technology & Tools
Utilize learning management systems, student information systems, and digital science platforms
Use standard classroom, lab, and office technology
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Strong content knowledge in secondary science (Grades 6–12)
Ability to facilitate inquiry-based and hands-on learning experiences
Knowledge of lab safety procedures and proper equipment use
Skill in differentiating instruction and using data to drive decisions
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Strong organizational and time-management skills in a hybrid work environment
Comfort integrating technology into science instruction
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Secondary Education, or related field (required)
Master’s degree (preferred)
Licensure
Valid Arkansas Teaching License with appropriate Secondary Science certification (required)
Experience
Prior teaching experience in secondary science preferred
Experience with online, blended, or virtual instruction is a plus
Work Environment
Combination of remote and on-site work
Standard school environment with occasional travel for meetings or professional development
