Job Description

PE Teacher (K–5) – Future Openings
LISA West Elementary | Little Rock

LISA West Elementary is seeking a high-energy, creative, and driven Physical Education Teacher (K–5) who understands that PE is a critical part of the overall school experience, culture, and student retention in a charter environment. This is not a passive role—this position requires initiative, strong classroom management, alignment to PE standards, and the ability to make fitness FUN and engaging for all students.

We are looking for someone who will bring energy to our building, promote healthy lifestyles, and help make our school a place families choose to stay.

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the PE Teacher (K–5) will teach physical education to all elementary grade levels (Kindergarten through 5th grade) and facilitate student growth in physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and overall wellness. The teacher will create a safe, structured, high-energy environment while providing meaningful feedback to students, families, and administration.

Key Responsibilities (Non-Negotiables)

Instruction & Program Leadership

Design and implement a high-quality K–5 PE program aligned to state standards
Balance structured skill development with fun, high-energy activities
Teach students fundamental movement skills, fitness concepts, teamwork, and sportsmanship
Maintain a well-managed, safe, and highly engaging environment

Student Experience & Engagement

Teach PE to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade
Develop lessons that promote active participation, inclusion, and excitement around fitness
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including SPED and diverse learners
Build a culture where students look forward to PE and take pride in participation

School Culture & Impact

Take ownership of promoting school-wide health, fitness, and active lifestyles
Serve as a visible, energetic presence during school events and daily routines
Support the idea that PE plays a role in student recruitment and retention

Events & Fundraising

Plan and execute a minimum of TWO major PE events per year
(Examples: Fun Run, Field Day, Fitness Challenge, Family Fitness Night)
Events should be high-energy, student-centered, and support fundraising efforts
Engage families and build excitement around school-wide participation

After-School Programming (If Applicable)

Offer opportunities for clubs, intramurals, or fitness-based activities
Create additional avenues for students to build skills and stay active

Professional Expectations

Maintain accurate records of student participation and progress
Collaborate with staff and contribute to school-wide initiatives
Participate in professional development and school meetings
Uphold school expectations for student behavior, safety, and accountability
