LISA West Elementary | Little Rock

LISA West Elementary is seeking a highly creative, driven STEM Teacher (K–5) who understands that STEM is a critical driver of student engagement, innovation, and retention in a charter environment.

This is not a passive role—this position requires initiative, vision, and instructional leadership.

We are looking for someone who will bring energy to our building, showcase student innovation, and actively contribute to making our school a place families choose and stay.

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the STEM Teacher (K–5) will provide hands-on, engaging STEM instruction to all elementary grade levels (Kindergarten through 5th grade), while also leading school-wide STEM initiatives and integration across all content areas.

This role extends beyond the classroom—the STEM teacher will serve as a leader in innovation, helping both students and staff think critically, solve problems, and apply learning in meaningful ways.

Key Responsibilities (Non-Negotiables)
STEM Leadership & School Impact
Design and implement a high-quality K–5 STEM program aligned to school goals
Take ownership of STEM visibility and culture across the building
Ensure STEM is visible, celebrated, and integrated school-wide
Support and lead cross-curricular STEM integration
Student Experience & Instruction
Teach STEM to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade
Develop hands-on, inquiry-based lessons across science, engineering, and problem-solving
Ensure lessons align with school curriculum and academic expectations
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including SPED and diverse learners
Maintain a structured, safe, and highly engaging classroom environment

The STEM Teacher is responsible for planning and executing ONE major event per quarter:

Quarter 1: STEMTastic Night (September)
Quarter 2: School STEM Fair
Quarter 3: District STEM Fair Participation
Quarter 4: Creative STEM Showcase/Event (teacher-designed)

Each event must:

Showcase multiple grade levels and student ability levels
Include hands-on family engagement
Highlight student projects, innovation, and problem-solving
Be well-organized, high-quality, and aligned to school expectations
Include opportunities for after-school club students to present work
Instructional Leadership & Teacher Support
Lead and model how to integrate STEM into all subject areas, including:
Literacy
Math
Science
Social Studies
Provide practical strategies and support to teachers
Collaborate with teams to ensure STEM is not isolated but embedded across instruction
Be creative while maintaining alignment with school curriculum and expectations
Opportunities & Exposure
Actively seek out and submit student work to STEM competitions and contests
Identify and bring in external STEM opportunities, partnerships, or experiences
Expand student exposure to real-world STEM applications
After-School Programming
Lead TWO days of after-school STEM clubs per week
Design clubs that are hands-on, innovative, and student-centered
Use clubs to deepen learning and build student interest in STEM fields
Professional Expectations
Maintain accurate records of student progress and participation
Collaborate with staff and contribute to school-wide initiatives
Participate in professional development and meetings
Uphold school expectations for behavior, safety, and accountability
What We Are Looking For
Strong background in STEM education and hands-on learning
A creative problem-solver who brings new ideas
Someone who takes initiative and ownership—not someone who waits to be told what to do
Ability to lead adults and support teachers instructionally
A team player committed to the school’s mission and vision
Passion for student engagement, innovation, and excellence
